Davide DB 418 Posted April 5, 2022 A post full of ignorance and full of questions.... Are there any brands that offer adapter rings to make their portlights compatible with the WWL? I have the WWL-1B and it has a bayonet mount. I don't know if it is a standard mount or proprietary. I also don't know if it is possible to get an adapter for M67 screw mount. When adapting a port for a lens already designed for the WWL (for example Sony 28-60 or Pana 14-42) are there any parameters to keep in mind?
Barmaglot 228 Posted April 5, 2022 Nauticam sells M52, M67 and M77 adapters to bayonet mount https://www.nauticam.com/collections/water-contact-optics-accessories/products/bayonet-converter-for-na-tg5-to-use-with-wwl-1-wwl-c https://www.nauticam.com/collections/water-contact-optics-accessories/products/m67-to-bayonet-converter-ii https://www.nauticam.com/collections/water-contact-optics-accessories/products/m77-to-bayonet-converter-ii However, they require that the port-side threads are cut into the inside of a fairly narrow lip, which fits into a groove on the adapter itself. There are also retaining pins that fit into cuts in that lip to prevent rotation. Basically, your port needs to look like this: It will not fit onto a port with a wide front flange, i.e. something like this: As for the port, if it's not explicitly designed for your lens, you need to make sure that its glass element is as close as possible to the lens front element, factoring in potential movement while zooming and focusing.
Davide DB 418 Posted April 5, 2022 Ok, I have this one: https://www.nauticam.com/collections/water-contact-optics-accessories/products/m67-to-bayonet-converter-ii But I don't think it fits on a Aquatica or Isotta port...
Barmaglot 228 Posted April 5, 2022 If you have an Isotta housing, you might be able to use a Nauticam port, see this thread:
ChrisRoss 150 Posted April 5, 2022 Yes agree your simplest course of action is change the lug ring on the Nauticam port to one for Isotta - but this is only for N120 Nauticam ports adapting to B120 ISotta housings. You would need to use this adapter or similar to adapt an N120 Nauticam port to a B102 Isotta housings - the adapter may add a few mm of extension: https://www.unterwasserkamera.at/shop/catalog/en/product_info.php?info=p6048_isotta-portadapter-isotta-b102.html
Davide DB 418 Posted April 5, 2022 Thanks guys but Isotta was just an example. Actually a good candidate for a future housing is Aquatica. I thought that at least screw M67 was a standard
ChrisRoss 150 Posted April 5, 2022 Isotta is mentioned as conversion is easy - just change the lug ring. Also Isotta uses Sea and Sea port system so you could also look at S&S housings. There is an Aquatica to S&S port adapter which should take the converted Nauticam ports, which might add 10mm of extension - the description doesn't say how much it adds. M67 is standard and you can get a WWL-1 with m67 screw fitting - but you need to screw it on and off. Whether the bayonet fits depends on the port layout and how thick the rim is. The slots in the Nauticam ports mate with a pin on the bayonet adapter to stop it rotating. Also Nauticam provides ports that fit the lenses used with the WWL very well - not all housing manufacturers have the extensive range of flat port sizes. It needs to be a close fit to avoid vignetting.
JayceeB 52 Posted April 5, 2022 Looks like Marelux Sony 28-60 port might possibly support the Nauticam bayonet mount. I didn't see confirmation of support, but the notches look similar to Nauticam ports. https://www.marelux.co/products/macro-port-32 Also the Sony 90mm macro port. https://www.marelux.co/products/macro-port-97 Canon 100mm macro port. https://www.marelux.co/products/macro-port104 Nikon 60mm macro port https://www.marelux.co/products/macro-port-71 Nikon 105mm macro port. https://www.marelux.co/products/macro-port-97
Phil Rudin 442 Posted April 5, 2022 (edited) I can confirm that the Marelux port 32 for the Sony FE 28-60mm will except the bayonet mount for WWL-1 and 1B along with the Marelux zoom gear for the 28-60 lens. Since the port mount on all of the Marelux mirrorless housings are identical this port should also fit Marelux Canon and Nikon housings. The Sony 28-60 lens can be mounted to Nikon Z cameras with the Techart Pro lens adapter so with a proper zoom gear it should work with this new port as well. Marelux is also offering the 20 port extension rings for Nauticam N120 ports and extensions and for S&S ports. With this extension ring you should also be able to direct mount the Nauticam WACP-1 with the 28-60 lens. For M43 with the 14-42 power zoom AOI offers a port that works with the 67mm bayonet mount for WWL-1/1B or the AOI UWL-09 Pro water contact optics. The Marelux macro ports listed by Jaycee above also except 67mm flip adapters for C/U lenses like the excellent Nauticam SMC and CMC lenses. Also keep in mind that the Nauticam port for the Sony FE 28-60 lens is an N100 not N120 so as Chris suggestes a lug ring for N120 still will NOT allow the Nauticam N100 45 port to mount to Aquatica, Isotta, S&S or others. Also even if you get a port of the correct length for those housings with support for the 67mm bayonet mount you still have the issue of a proper lens zoom gear that will work in the housing of choice making the conversion a bit less simple than suggested above. Davide DB 418 Posted April 5, 2022 In short, I've stirred up a hornet's nest with these questions. Cross-referencing your links and the translator, I don't think I understand what a "lug ring" is. I was looking on the Aquatica website at their ports but I didn't understand what kind of attachment they have and I couldn't even find a port chart. Among other things, it seems that their M43 line has been tacked on to the site in a cheap way.

Phil Rudin 442 Posted April 6, 2022 Regarding housings for Sony full frame cameras with support for the Sony FE 28-60mm/gear and Sony FE 28mm F/2 for WWL-1 Nauticam has ports for both that have the 67mm thread and support both the bayonet and thread-in WWL-1. The 28-60 port is N100-45 and the 28mm F/2 port is N100-32. Isotta has the H50-B120 flat port for the 28mm F/2 with 67mm thread that may/may not work with WWL-1 but no notches to support the bayonet mount for WWL-1B. Marelux has a flat port and gear for the Sony FE 28-60mm designed to work with the bayonet mount so compatible with WWL-1 or WWL-1B. 1
