apete 1 Posted December 9, 2004 Any news/rumours of housings for this camera? /Anders
ikelite 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Ikelite will have prototype installation finished within the next week or so. Will be similar to what we did for the Coolpix 5000, but iTTL conversion circuitry is still being developed. Housing for use with manual strobes can be offered until iTTL development is complete............
apete 1 Posted December 10, 2004 I assume it will have an optional dome port. Dome ports have to be specifically designed/chosen for each lens – right? Will there be one suitable for the built in 24mm lens? How big will that be? /Anders
derway 2 Posted December 13, 2004 Big problem with 8400 underwater... The LCD freezes during autofocus, and this cannot be changed. To me, this makes it unuseable. Did the 5000 do this? My G2 has a mode where it does this, and it is UNUSEABLE underwater, since the subjects tend to move out of the focus zone, before it finishes focusing. Fortunately it has another mode, which focuses slower, but keeps the LCD live. Don
apete 1 Posted December 14, 2004 I use preset manual focus a lot. "The two standout features of the Nikon 8400 are its fast shutter response (among the best we've seen in a prosumer camera), and its super-wide 24-85mm equivalent zoom lens." & "Excellent battery life." & "Good to moderate low-light performance." http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/CP8400/CP84A.HTM I (still) think/hope this camera will perform well under water. There is another review at: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_review.../nikon8400.html Still waiting for DPReview... /Anders
radson 0 Posted December 27, 2004 I too read the specs for the Nikon and thought on paper it looked excellent. I was thinking of getting a DSLR just so i could get some decent wide angle but the nikon can go to 18 mm (35mm equiv) with its lens adaptor. I see on Ikelites website that they have a model in January.
