caurro 0 Posted December 11, 2004 Dear all, Premised that they are a beginner, and that this would be my first camera, is someone that uses the DSC P150 or the T1, and can advise to me if to buy it or not? Thanks.
derway 2 Posted December 12, 2004 I hope you will get some answers, but kind of doubt it. The p150 is too new. However, just going by specs, I think the p150 would be the way to go, as it has superb image quality, and autofocus performance. And it has a full manual mode, so if you ever wanted to try using an external strobe, you have a chance of getting it to work. The V3 would be killer, but maybe out of your price range, since it has aperture priority and shutter priority, as well as full manual... Good luck! dunfield 0 Posted December 13, 2004 I have the Sony T1. I love it. It takes great videos, but the fact that the widest aperature setting is only 3.0 is quite limiting. I am a beginner diver and cannot profess to be experienced with underwater photography yet, but have a look at my pictures / videos to date if you like. http://dunfield.rmc.ca/scuba/ Jim
gordongreeff 0 Posted December 30, 2004 I bought the P150 for myself about 2 weeks ago and have taken it on two dives. I was a little sceptical, but the quality of the photo's I've taken so far have been pretty amazing (taking into acount that it isn't an SLR). I also, don't have any external strobes or light sources yet, so things will only get better... If you're interested in seeing some of the pictures, let me know and I'll put them up on my website... james 0 Posted December 30, 2004 Sony cameras are not well supported for underwater photography. Cheers James
arman68 0 Posted December 30, 2004 I bought a P150 with the Sony underwater housing recently, and took it to a recent trip to egypt in the red sea. I have taken it on more than a dozen snorkeling trips and I am very happy with the results. With the housing it feels great and easy to use underwater. I did my shoot in program mode, with forced flash and increased flash intensity, and with added saturation and sharpness. To be honest about 2/3 of my shots were good for the bin, but as this is my first underwater photography experience, I think it is due to me and the difficulty of shooting underwater rather than the camera. I find the LCD is quite hard to use underwater, so most of the time I just estimated how I should positioned the camera; when scuba diving instead of snorkeling, it is probably easier, and the LCD might be more useful. I include a few resized pictures I have taken, both the original and a photoshoped version.

mdfaunce 0 Posted December 31, 2004 Hope you don't mind, but as a fellow Sony shooter (DSC-P100), I couldn't help myself. I've got both a P10 and a P100. I don't get to dive very often -- a couple of trips a year or about 20 dives a year max -- so I'm very much still learning the underwater stuff. But you can see a gallery of pics taken with the P10 and the P100 here: http://www.fauncefamily.net/album The Cancun section and the FL Keys section both contain diving photos. Here's the 1st photo color corrected:
