Recommended coffee table book publishers

I have a dive buddy who is doing a lot of light painting that is interested in publishing coffee table books of light painted springs . He wants something fairly high quality but yet keep the price reasonable. Has anyone crossed this path before and can recommend publishing that they can recommend.?

Is he looking for a publisher or a printer? Most books like that are being printed in China these days but if he’s looking to self-publish (I.e. he pays for everything and markets them himself) there is an excellent Canadian printer called Friesens that does this stuff. Plus you get the advantage of a strong American dollar. 
 

if you’re actually looking for a publisher, (they put up the upfront costs and look after sales and distribution) I suggest he hit a book store, look at books he likes and see who published them. For an unknown approaching a publisher, it’s a tough slog but you never know! 
 

I worked in print and publishing my entire adult life and the one word of caution I have is that every author thinks they have a best seller and from what you described, it may be a cool book but likely a limited market. Small sales means very expensive production costs because in print, so much of the cost is up front. 
 

if he’s looking to do a limited run to test the waters (dozens or a couple of hundred) the. There are a number of online services can do this. Those books would be printed digitally but these days, the quality is very good.

Just a final thought after rereading your post… “good quality” and inexpensive are generally at odds to one another but printing a poor quality book is a guarantee of failure
