Sorry, my bad. Every other lens I'm selling is no reserve, but I just couldn't do it with the 70-180 - LOL.

The reserve is $660.

Cheers

By the looks of it someone is changing camps...

I can understand why James has not updated his sigline, it would have to look like this:

Fuji S2Pro. Nikon 12-24DX and 70-180 Micro. Dual DS125 Strobes

No, wait: Nikon D100. Nikon 12-24 DX, 60mm, 105mm, 17-35 AFS, 16mm fisheye.

Hang on, hang on, make that: Kodak Pro/n, 60 mm, 105mm, 17-35 AFS, 16mm fisheye, Inon Strobes.

Ah, shoot: Currently don't own an UW digital camera, watch this space (with apologies to Alex Mustard).

James,

Sheesh, All that gear! Glad Craig has kept up his database :(

Are you finally "seeing the light" realizing that Canon (and especially an EOS 20D) can do the job of many higher priced, cumbersome, and oddball systems? Even Steve's Digicams compares an EOS 20D file to a medium format camera.....

Hey, if Andy Warhol can shoot and sell photos taken with a point and shoot maybe we can use different cameras ( as in dSLRs, small mid-range cameras, etc.)to create images, too!!!

As I've always said, it ain't the pot, it's the chef :D

Just curious..... :D

I've got a feeling I might be space watching for quite some time.

And I've got the same feeling, though I have a crunch coming up very very soon with a landscape shoot in the far north of Australia planned for late July :(:D

Have you already dumped the Kodak? Not even waiting to see sunballs from the S3? In the event that I engage the dark side, I could never part with my Nikkors! After 6wks shooting the F100 in Seacam housing, it may be a while before I go back to digital. My D2x / housing are ordered, and when they get here I'll be grateful, but the results I've been getting on velvia are way beyond my expectations. Besides, the madness must stop somewhere

I look forward your objective reports on your new equipment. You'll soon be one of the few people in the world that have owned dSLRs from 4 different manufacturers!!!

Hey James, you're smart to get all this out of your system before you get married :(:D:D:D

You guys crack me up! Well, thanks for "pumping" up my thread to the top...lol.

I admit, I have changed gear a lot in my "quest for the perfect system." I should add "that I can afford." The way I feel about things digital is "sell when the time is right," it's worked for me so far. If you're careful, you can use a digital camera for a year for less than $500-1,000, which depending on how much you use it is pretty good.

I'm really glad that Canon introduced the 1DsMkII - not because I can buy one, but because of what it's done to the prices of their other cameras. Now the way I feel is I can get a 1D series housing and body and I will be good to go for a while. When the price goes down on the 1DsMkII, then I can get one of those and even use the same housing to extend my time with the system even more.

The 1D series body is the longest life body DSLR ever made. People that bought the housings when the 1Ds came out can very well use the housing from Oct 2003 through perhaps Oct 2005 before the body changes again. And then it will still be a mainstream camera system until 2006 I think. 3+ years with the same housing is enough to get me to jump in.

Dave: the Canon 1.6x crop cameras come out every 8 months it seems and they change the body ever so slightly each time so you need a new housing. That's annoying, but ok if you go with Ikelite because you can just sell and upgrade every time.

Anyhow, yep, come Sunday, all of my Nikon lenses will be sold. I'm really going to miss my 17-35 as Canon doesn't have one as good, but otherwise, I think I'll be OK.

And for anyone who's wondering, I have never been unsatisfied with any of the cameras and housings I have owned. I have liked all of them, and each had its pros and cons.

Cheers

James

You don't think you'll miss the 70-180 macro as much? Canon does not have one of those either.

Next step:

Use the Canon 17-40L for awhile, swear profusely when you see the soft corners, swear some more when you find out second-curtain sync doesn't work on Canon digital bodies, and switch to the Pentax *ist body and system.

:(

Actually, you won't notice that the Canon wides are not as good until you go full frame.

Oh, wait. You *are* going full frame!

:D

With that said, I just got back from the camera shop. In addition to the 17-40 Canon wide zoom, they have 3 Sigma 12-24 f2.8's. I think I am going to bring in the camera and laptop and try them all. Best lens wins - even if it's a Sigma.

Thoughts?

Cheers

James

that's a lot of nice glass you are selling James. I am getting a d70 with a housing for my daughter for her birthday. This is one way to not have to share my lenses
