NEED HELP-CAMERA DOESN'T WORK-SETTINGS FOR C5050 WITH YS-90

Recommended Posts

I have a C5050 Olympus w/dual YS-90 strobes and dual sync cord. My settings with the YS-90 are set to TTL and Slave "on" buy iy does not fire the strobes. My current settings are: Flash mode slow-flash intensity (-2)-auto focus AF set to "flower"-flash is at "slave". My question is are these settings correct for underwater close up and why doesn't the stobes work or fire? To fire the stobes, should the camera be set to "slave"? What does the "ROC" button do? WHAT AM I DOING WRONG-I need help now since we're on a dive trip in Curacao and the camera is new to me? Any and all help appreciated.

Skipster,

Not sure what kind of housing you have. Peter has some sample settings on his site for the 5050 in Ikelite and Oly housings.

www.splashdowndivers.com

Make sure the interior housing wire is put into the camera hotshoe correctly. This may sound like simplicity at its highest, but a friend of mine had the wire backwards on our last trip and of course the strobes wouldn't fire.

Hope this helps.

David

Your strobes are set up properly, except the slave switch can be turned off.

TTL Roc will not work in SLAVE Flash mode, but the strobes should be firing...

The first URL describes how to properly set up the camera for TTL shooting, including flash mode settings.

Make sure you are following the instructions on pages 12-16 in the second URL, the users manual, for waking up roc, and adjusting strobe power.
