mantamark 0 Posted July 21, 2005 Mine finally arrived after waiting a month. I was very impressed with the quality I use a DCR HC90 in it. It has a color monitor in the back comes with a wide angle lens, has IR activated buttons for wide zoom and photo, have only used it in my pool so far but going to a local lake this weekend to try in deeper water. This thing is solid and craftsmanship is fantastic. It has several guides that your cam screws onto and clicks into place on the bottom of the housing. I am going to use my UK HID for lighting with ultralight ball joints and arms. The reason I went with the Sony is COMPLETE compatibility out of the box, everything is literally plug and play. runner138 0 Posted August 19, 2005 Hi, I stumbled on this site through Google and after reading your message I thought of replying to it. I have had the Sony underwater housing MPK-DVF7 for a few months and i use DCR-HC90E handycam in it. As the previous reply the materials used are excellent and overall I find it fantastic. I have captured some outstanding underwater video!!! Quite frankly I cant faut it in any way but there is one thing that annoys me; it is the fact that the housing does not have a control for swapping between DV tape and memory card. This ultimately results in having to set your handycam in either of the modes and live with it through the dive. EG. if the camera is set to DV Recording you will get Outstanding Video Footage but if you are going to take pictures their quality will not be great as it will be recorded as a 5sec still on tape. On the other hand if the handycam is set to Memory you will get Average Footage and Good Pictures that can be enlarged and printed. Bottom line is that you have to decide what you will do with the captured footage. My suggestion is: 1.- If you are going to convert the captured footage to DVD record on the DV Tape! 2.- If you are going to watch your footage on computer than record on the memory stick as you will get Great video quality for playback on a PC and Still Pictures good enough for enlargement printing. Hope this has answered your question. In any event you can ask me any other question you might have and I will try to answer it. Cheers
jim75019 0 Posted November 4, 2005 Are there different versions (NTSC and PAL) of the MPK-DVF7 video housing or one works with videocameras of both systems: i.e; HR-HC90E(PAL) and HR-HC9O (NTSC) ?
