TuriLed 2 Posted March 24, 2005 Hope is delivery before end of April. Concern is we have never met a deadline yet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> summer break start in mid-june (university undergraduate )... i've got a 1-2 weeks of diving planned. Wonder when i should order the housing... Are you making any "old" D-70 housings during this time ? i saw that B&H is out of stock. TTL is not that important to me (it's a nice to have) i've been using manual for almost two years. just wanna see what my options are :-) anyway, good luck with the delivery date
ikelite 0 Posted March 24, 2005 Non-TTL D-70 housing will be available until we catch up on the new TTL version.
Marc Furth 3 Posted March 27, 2005 Hi Ike, I just purchased the Nikon d2x and I’m in the process of building my own housing again. I’ve always been a big fan of your underwater housings and use many components made by your company...controls, ports, cables, catches etc. When your iTTL system becomes available could I buy the circuitry from you along with a couple DS-125 strobes ? Do you have a 5 wire sync cord available or could you fabricate one for me ? I was also thinking of housing a couple of SB 800 in the in term while I await a better system. Would you think a couple of SB 800's be powerful enough for underwater use. Thanks, Marc
TuriLed 2 Posted March 27, 2005 Marc, take a look at this site iTTL converter . This guy offers a iTTL converter as an OEM module. Ike's iTTL converter should work better with the DS-125s you want though .
Marc Furth 3 Posted March 28, 2005 Thanks for the Interesting link, I’ll keep it on the back burner till I hear from Ike. It was good to read I could still use my SB 105, or my 104 if I care to. Marc
LChan 0 Posted March 30, 2005 Hey Ike. any chance of iTTL for the D100? I just got my Ikelite housing for the D100 from B&H last wk. Going to Roatan Sat. What options will I have for upgrading to iTTL. thanks.
Tom_Kline 141 Posted March 30, 2005 LChan, iTTL was introduced with the D2H. Cameras newer than the D2H such as the D70, D2X, D2Hs, and F6 also have iTTL. The D100 came out earlier and had the earlier form of digital TTL. Upgrading options to iTTL consists of buying a newer Nikon. Tom
ScottS101 0 Posted March 30, 2005 Ike, As the proud owner of two - Non-ttl Ikelite housings I'd like to know if you can upgrade my existing housings? If so... I use DS-125's. Will existing Ike ttl synch chords work? Thanks!
LChan 0 Posted March 30, 2005 Thanks Tom. now if I can only win the Lottery......
ikelite 0 Posted March 30, 2005 Housing updates will be offered a month or so after we get housing delivery started. Strobe requirements and charges will be same as for eTTL described on following: http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/2canonTTL.html The five-conductor sync cords are what is needed. Tom Kline is correct on dTTL for the D100 camera. We will see if it can be done, but no immediate plans.

I guess i'll leave it working with the manual controller. However, my DS-125's SN is 5024. Does it means it will operate with the conversion circuitry as is ? Can you provide some more information about the conversion circuitry controls ? is it the same as the eTTL controls ?
ikelite 0 Posted March 31, 2005 The iTTL circuitry and controls are to be same as the Canon eTTL.
Tom_Kline 141 Posted April 2, 2005 I would like to see iTLL built into the strobe so that it could be used on a variety of housings. Tom
Detonate 0 Posted April 2, 2005 Yeah, but then the strobes would only be good for late model Nikons.
pmooney 6 Posted April 2, 2005 Having iTTL built into the strobe would surely be winner. I'm sure that there would be enough support to produce a "trial or test sampling". How about it ???????? Peter
Tom_Kline 141 Posted April 2, 2005 Detonate, iTTL HAS to be built into the camera, ergo late models only. It is intrinsic to the design of the camera model. One can no more do iTTL in the D100 than do TTL in an F or F2. An iTTL strobe could also include Nikonos-style TTL capability as well as manual control. ikelite 0 Posted April 3, 2005 Ryan has been ranting for this and it may be possible to offer a DS-125i that works both ways. Complication is what works for D70 does not work for Coolpix 8400 and 8800 for example. We will work on the possibilities and evaluate............
Tom_Kline 141 Posted April 3, 2005 Forget the D70, forget the Coolpixes, what about the D2's? Tom
CeeDave 0 Posted April 3, 2005 Forget the D70, forget the Coolpixes, what about the D2's?Tom <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll bet Ike bets there are near 100 (or more) D70 shooters for every D2X shooter.
Tom_Kline 141 Posted April 4, 2005 I gather they have sold something like a million D70s thus far. Total D2 series production (D2H, D2X, and D2Hs) is ??? Nevertheless see the results Alex is getting with his D2X. My tongue in cheek comment was to point out that there are needs for the rather serious types too. Ike appears to be addressing the D70 already. I would consider a custom mod of my existing strobes if that would work. Maybe that would be the better route?
