tomeyer 3 Posted April 1, 2005 I just recently purchased a nikon 17-35 mm zoom lense for my camera. I have the NX-100 sea & sea housing with fisheye domeport. Does anyone know what I need in terms of diopter with this lens. Also the Sea & Sea website stated the gear for the 105 macro lense will work for for the 17-35 mm but a representative at backscatter told me this will not work. Has anyone used this setup (17-35 mm with 105 gear) before? I have only used the nikonos for wide angle and just need some advice. Thanks.
Alex_Mustard 0 Posted April 1, 2005 Port setup is very important to get the best out a lens like this. Otherwise your corner sharpness can really suffer at wide apertures. I don't know the Sea and Sea ports - but it is well worth waiting to hear from someone who has actually used the lens. Alex
UWPhotoTech 0 Posted April 1, 2005 Your information is correct the Sea & Sea Gear listed in their chart will not work. We can fabricate a custom zoom gear for you, contact me for information. The SX Extension ring with the Fisheye Dome port is the correct setup, adding a +2 Diopter lens will help with the corner sharpness.
Tom_Kline 141 Posted April 2, 2005 http://www.seacamusa.com/technotes.shtml Check the various articles in "Lenses, Port, and Domes' in the above link. You will see that the largest dome diameter you can get will be best. Tom
