Asian Diver Cover

Recommended Posts

Thought i would share my latest cover shot, its a juvenile trumpet fish hanging out in a crinoid. I really like the limited DOF of this shot, 105mm with +1, and the blue background.

Also in the issue is the results of their photo contest, i see Whitehead is in there for best novice. I also love the Best of Show shot, is that shot from in the water or a really long lens made to look like it is from in the water?? Now that is a large beastie that could put a dent in your dome port....Asian Diver

I think that the cyan water looks great on the cover. Normally you see deep blues on dive mags - this is very effective. Congrats.

Thanks Alex

Interesting that you note the colour. I too was sort of noticing that, not sure how well it is reproduced on the site compared to the mag itself as it takes a loooooong time for mail to reach Yap, will be interesting to see how it compares in real life.

My colour on the original is a little bluer but not a lot, a really nice light blue that sets off the red.

Unique shot, Since I didn't have this magazine, is it possible to see the shot in more pixels version?

Busy guy you are Mister Veitch, nice shot for a nice magazine, I<m really happy with this member's in media forum, we have a lot of talent in this community and it's cool to see our fellowship venues, but because I compliment your work does'nt mean youre getting off that Molson beer you owe me <_< .

I first saw Asian Diver on a flight to Singapore last year. As soon as I got home, I ordered a subscription (little expensive but worth it) It is a great magazine with fantastic pictures. Congrats on a fantastic cover shot.

Just got a copy last night. Its more blue than the thumbnail also. Fantastic eye focus! Also really good to see asian diver moving to more macro for cover shots.

Am quite chuffed as it was the first competition I have ever entered. But check out Mau Kim Fia's macro winner - stunning.

Thanks again everyone, glad to hear it looks good on the printed page. I thought it would as their art director is quite good.

Congrats again Paul, should get my copy soon for a better look at the competition results. How about that Croc shot though eh??? Word is he was right in the water beside it.....nuts!

Great shot Mike, well done.

I assume you took it in the waters around Yap, or were you travelling?
