Nope, Sensodyne if memory serves. Just put on a movie, apply a pea of toothpaste and get scrubbing with your microfibre.

People might balk at remove the anti-flare/ghosting coating etc but I took this toothpaste-polished dome on the WetPixel Red Sea Odyssey and could not tell where the treated area of the dome was upon inspection when assembling my rig or in the resulting pictures.

Last time i tried to fix my acrylic dome i ended up gouging and putting a flat spot on it and having to buy a new one completely.

 

Got an obvious scratch on this one too and not sure i want to risk physically destroying a 2nd one to get it out.

IMG_8413.HEICI have some really deep external scratches on the precision dome for sigma fisheye15mm. The scratches do not seem to go through the other side of the dome but they seem quite deep. Any advice would be appreciated but I am also looking for a new precision dome (unfortunately they are discontinued). Thank you!

If it's acrylic it should be possible to polish out but it might take a bit of effort . - BTW I can't readily open the HEIC file you attached so can't see how deep the scratch is.   BTW I saw that bluewater photo store is showing the dome in stock might be worth contacting them.

Many thanks for the reply. I attach the photo in a different format. I did contact the bluewater photo and they said they do not make these anymore but I am not sure why they say it is in stock, I think they forgot to remove it.

That looks like a stress fracture right through the acrylic (maybe that is why they are no longer on sale). I think that is within the acrylic and won’t polish out like a surface scratch.

Hi Alex, thank you for your comment. I also think the same i.e., it will not be possible to be fixed. However I am still using it (less than 5 meters depth) and hopefully it will not explode. I have had it for 9 years with no problems and to be honest I was not taking care of it properly. I have also posted an ad here in case someone is selling it.

Quite possibly right, hard to tell from a pic but does not look like a scratch.  All you can do is look in the second hand market I guess as assuming it's for an ikelite housing , nothing available in that size range.

Potentially you could use something like a Nauticam 140mm or even a 4.33" acrylic dome with an adapter but that's significantly more $

In the above picture of the dome, what you have is an impact facture, something caused from an external pressure source such as transportation or shipping. They are very deep cracks in the acrylic and cannot be polished out.
