scubak 0 Posted June 16, 2005 I am new to digital UW and have a Oly C-5060 in an Ikelite housing with the DS-125 strobe and the last 2 dives I notice a dark black area in the lower left hand corner of the image.... Is this a "shadow", a strobe position problem, a camera problem? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Kirsten

dmoss 0 Posted June 17, 2005 Hello Kirsten and welcome to Wetpixel By chance, are you using the Ikelite dome port with your housing ? I had a similar problem and it turned out the front shade for the dome wasn't aligned correctly. I had vignetting in the bottom right corner. Realigning the dome shade corrected the problem. If you aren't using the dome port, check to make sure your camera is positioned inside the housing with the lens in the center of the port opening. Not sure what type of dark corners you are getting, but if it looks like this, it's mechanical vignetting and you should be able to correct it without much of a problem. Giles 1 Posted June 17, 2005 sometimes with these camer4as when you zoom you get the port showing up ... i had this with the L&M housings with dry ports ... with the wide angle ports you sometimes get the reflection of the writing on the end of the lense show up too. Kelpfish 15 Posted June 20, 2005 Your port and lens are not totally compatible. You get that same effect when you stack filters on a lens. Joe
