a1johnny 0 Posted June 24, 2005 Will a strobe without a sync cord work with a Olympus C5050 zoom camera? Such as a Sunpak G Flash or a Bonica Neon III. I take a lot of macro and supermacro pic's and want to get rid of the back scatter.
Jolly 3 Posted June 26, 2005 I don't know these strobes but I guess they can not emulate the pre- and mainflash required for TTL flash exposure control. But if those strobes have an optical slave feature you could use them and control the power output manually. In order to do this you have to set the C5050 into flash slave mode and no preflash is fired. You might want to have a look at strobes supporting the C5050 TTL feature. regards, Julian
bondo 0 Posted June 26, 2005 Yes, you can use a Ikelite DS-50 or DS125 with a manual controller or TTL controller... I've included a link to a site with lots of great information on settings for the camera. If you're going to use super macro you have to use the manual controller and set the flash on the camera to slave... as the camera won't use TTL flash when in super macro mode. http://www.splashdowndivers.com/photo_gall...up_settings.htm also if you'd like to check out some photos shot with the setup, everything I've shot the last couple of years was taken with a OLy 5050, Oly housing and Ikelite DS-50 w/manual controller. www.manfishphoto.com
divingbiker 0 Posted July 4, 2005 Another option is Sea&Sea DX90 using optical trigger. I have this and it works great. You can go one step futher and purchase the fibre optic lead which helps prevent a false trigger from other cameras or light sources. No modification to your housing.
