New Sea & Sea YS90DX Auto strobe

Recommended Posts

So, one cool thing I saw at the Sea & Sea booth (which has a part number now, but won't be shipping for a few months, at least) was the new Sea & Sea YS90DX Auto strobe. Andy Sallmon (California rep._ took me through it, and basically, you set the strobe's f-stop to match your camera's f-stop, and then fire away. The strobe will quench when it sees enough lite.

It's sort of like TTL, except the "L" is a sensor on the strobe itself.

This strobe will fire TTL if the camera supports it. If not, you can use it in "Auto" mode to get something more automatic than manual, but less accurate than TTL.

I imagine that this would work well if you have relatively short strobe arms, or are taking a photo of something big that fills the frame.

Look interesting.

Did you saw some results of that technique?

no, I haven't, but maybe one of these days I will try to get some from the local rep for testing. ;) I was told that they won't ship until next Spring.
