#15 is a beauty. Love the background, really makes the shot pop. #17 is also nice. Love the first Parrot fish shot. Great colors and pose.

Good stuff. And some original compositions. Thanks for sharing.

The only (small) critque I have is that I think that you are shooting wide angle a little bit too much as you would for slide film. It is only a minor point and more opinion than fact - digital is different to slide and requires a slightly different approach.

Would you care to elaborate, good doctor?? I know I would be interested to hear more.

I think that the good doc is referring to the blue to cyan transitions and the cyan rings around the sun. That would be my criticism of also.

This is on the assumption that Carlos shot film in the past??

Good work Carlos, you have some really great shots in there.

That's my point. Looking at how these images are shot - they look like Carlos shot slide before he shot digital as they show classic slide technique. Just my hunch, I guess.

p.s. I will elaborate for Craig later - but I am just about to loose power and internet here.

Hi !

You will not belive me but here are the facts:

1 - I bought my Nikon D70 on Jan'05.

2 - I did learn on a UW photo course on March'05 with Rui Guerra (World Vice-Champion 2005, Set'05). I used a borrowed Olympus C-5050 for the lessons. ;)

3 - I received my SubalND70 on May'05.

4 - The first UW shot I have ever done with my Nikon D70 was on 14thMay'05 :)

5 - I´ve never used a UW equipment (digital or not) before the UW course

I'm just in the start line... :)

Now I'm attending a Wide Angle Workshop, here in Portugal, with Vice-Champion Rui Guerra. Guess you were right about me needing it. :D

Nice pictures Carlos.

I just got back from a two week long liveaboard onboard the boat Nemo. We went to the Marine Parks in the Red Sea. We dived Brothers, Daedalus, Rocky Island, Zabargad, St John's and Elphinstone.

Which boat where you on and where did you dive?

Regards

Peter

Hi Pedda,

Thanks for the comments.

I was in M/Y Miss Nouran from Serpent Fleet. From 9 to 15th September. We went as far as St John's. I was a bit desapointed because I was expecting more fish. Big fish. I have never seen a shark <_< (I saw 2 small white tips at St. Jonh's).

Maybe we were at elphinestone at the same time...

Next year I'll try the Brothers. Have you enjoyed it?

I was 13 days onboard Nemo between the 10 and 22 this month. We started from Safaga and went straight to The Brothers.

We stayed one day at Big and one day at Little. I hade gray reef shark and black/whitetip reef shark on both places. Then we went to Daedalus were we stayed two days. And there I dived with hammerhead, oceanic whitetip and gray reef shark. After that we went down to Rocky Island and there I also dived with hammerheads.

We stayed three days in St Johns. And as you we also had less shark and big fish. I was lucky to see manta at Gota Soraya. We ended our tour at Elphinestone and there I saw silky shark and whitetip reef shark.

Brothers, Deadalus and Rocky Island are better places for big things then St John's but you have more variations among the dive sites there instead. Brothers, Deadalus and Rocky are all drop offs

As soon as I find time I'll post some pics from my trip.

Hi Pedda,

nice photos on your site. I was glad to see the macro on the pipefish. I've tried on one I saw but I got over exposed pics. I can´t do TTL with my small Ikelite DS50 and the Subtronic Maxi is to big for macro.

I'll be waiting for your new gallerie.

I was on Elphinestone for the last two dives on 14th September. Too croudy don´t you think? I've entered the water at 05:30am... No sharks. I have never seen one (just two litle white tips at Habili El Radir).

What's the best place (Brothers, Deadalus or Rocky Island) for a liveabord only for photographers?
