Wetpixel Ultimate Tiger Sharks 2023

Wetpixel Ultimate Tiger Sharks 2023

After a hiatus of a few years, Wetpixel will be returning to photograph and dive with the amazing shark populations of the Bahamas.

The trip is designed to maximize time and to get great images of the tiger sharks (Galeocerdo cuvier) of the famous Tiger Beach, Bahamas. This site offers the world’s best opportunities for image-making with large numbers of tiger, lemon (Negaprion brevirostris), and Caribbean reef sharks (Carcharhinus perezi), and close encounters are very common. There is also the possibility of interactions with great hammerhead (Sphyrna mokarran) nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum) and bull sharks (Carcharhinus leucas), although these are less common. It is a “must-do” experience for anyone that is interested in or fascinated by sharks. It is also the very best place on the planet to capture imagery of these iconic, but increasingly rare animals.

We will be diving with the incomparable Epic Diving, who “specializes in unforgettable encounters with sharks” and have been responsible for a large number of award-winning images of sharks that have been produced recently. The trip will be shore based, with day boats going out to the dive sites, and will be designed to maximize photographic opportunities.

The trip will be led by Wetpixel Editor Adam Hanlon. It will run from 5 to 11 November 2023. It will be based on the West End of Grand Bahama with flights via Freeport (FPO).

The trip includes:

6 nights in 3 separate condo-style self-catering accommodations.
5 full days of tiger shark encounters.
Lunch, snacks, and beverages on the boat.
Tanks, air fills, weights, and weight belts.
Tips and gratuities

We are limiting the number of participants in order to maximize imaging opportunities.

The hotel that we will be staying in for the trip has condo-style rooms which are all ground floor and a few steps away from the boat. Each condo has 2 bedrooms with a private bathroom, a full kitchen, a living room with a half bathroom, a patio, and a laundry room.

Fees:

Wetpixel Tiger Sharks (Double occupancy) $5,750.00. Single occupancy is available as a supplement.

The price includes accommodation, diving, and the meals listed above. It also includes tips and gratuities for the dive center staff. It excludes breakfast, evening meals, alcoholic beverages, and flights.

There are only 8 places available for the tiger sharks trip. A $2,000 dollar deposit secures your place, with a further $2000 due on 01 February 2023, with balances due on 01 August 2023.

It should be stressed that this is a wildlife photography trip and while the presence of sharks is anticipated, it can not be guaranteed. Similarly, weather conditions can make accessing dive sites difficult or impossible. As always, we recommend that participants carry insurance to help mitigate these circumstances.

Please contact Adam as soon as possible for more information or to book.
