Supposedly a "crawling" anglerfish discovered in, of course, Indonesia...

No supposedly,.. it is there. :D Had an opportunity to see it for myself it last week , off the coast of Ambon in the Banda Sea. Can hopefully post some photos soon. Stay tuned , there may also be some video of it coming from Mike Veitch , who I had the pleasure of meeting & diving with there as well.

Recently returned from an awesome dive adventure encompassing land stays on Bali and Ambon , along with time cruising the Banda Sea with the Archipelago Adventurer II.
Among the many weird and wonderful critters encountered there, was this recently discovered new member of the angler/frogfish family. First sighted by Toby, a DM that works for Maluku Divers on Ambon, some 10 odd years ago, it has escaped other divers and the glare of the underwater photographer's strobes until recent months.
I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to see it in it's natural habitat, and to have taken a few photos as well.
This one, according to those in the know, is a female, she had eggs nearby, and was about the size of a small fist. Take note, she is missing what all others in this family have, the ever present lure on the forehead.

Beautiful animal! Nice photo, too...
I am happy you had the experience to see it in person.

Whoops Alex, must have missed that by being underwater in GC too much at the time.:guiness:
Perhaps you want to move this post to that forum then??
