Ozeon Snorkeling has introduced the head-mounted QV360, a new snorkel design in the spirit of the old double-hose regulators that allows for hands-free video or spotting light use while snorkeling. Expected to be available in Spring 2009, the QV360 consists of a flexible mounting base worn on the back of the head, similar to styling to a flattened bicycle helmet, with a new ‘dry-top’ snorkel mounted on the back. The snorkel attachment utilizes a unique float design to ensure that absolutely no water enters, and two air hoses to provide single-direction airflow (and eliminate any possibilities of CO2 build-up).
On the front of the QV360 is a universal mount that currently holds either a Princeton Tec focus light or the Oregon Scientific ATC2K underwater video camera, rated to 10 feet and with 1-2 hours of recording time. The company is working to introduce a diver-only model of the head-mount (without snorkel) that will work with hoods and allow for additional mounting accessories.
