Wetpixel Tiger Sharks 2015

Tiger Beach, off Grand Bahama, offers an unrivalled opportunity to dive and photograph tiger sharks (Galeocerdo cuvier), as well as large numbers of Caribbean reef (Carcharhinus perezi) and lemon (Negaprion brevirostris) sharks. Wetpixel was one of the first organizations to run photographic expeditions to the area. For various reasons, we haven’t been for a few years, so it was very exciting to be able to return this year. We dived with Vincent and Debra Canabal of Epic Diving, who excelled in providing amazing, safe photographic opportunities for our group.

The way the diving is set up by Epic at Tiger Beach means that the sharks are very relaxed and there is no aggression or frenzied activity. It is an always an amazing experience to be sharing the water with large animals, even more so when they are apex predators!

The group consisted of Janet and Greg McClelland, Edward Lai, Phoebe Lu, Chris Boardman, Aki Ihalainen, Ryan Canon, Will Clark, Nancy Simpson and me. Many thanks to all the participants for sharing their images and making it such an amazing trip.
