Issue 104 of Underwater Photography (UwP) magazine is available to download. Among lots of news about product releases and trips, it features reports for the Digital and Monterey Shootouts, and reviews of the Sony A7 Mark III/Nauticam, Backscatter M52 lens, and RGBlue System 02 lights. There is a portfolio of images from Laura Storm and a guide to diving at the UK’s Farne Islands.

Issue 10 of Heinz online magazine is now available to view or download. Dedicate duo underwater imagery, the magazine features articles about the Cocos Islands, Goliath groupers, Humboldt squids, Palau and a series of selected “Top Shot” images.
Adobe drops support of legacy operating systems
Adobe has announced that next major release of their Creative Cloud will not operate on Windows 8.1, Windows 10 v1511 and v1607, and Mac OS 10.11 (El Capitan).
Issue 87 of X-Ray Magazine available
Issue 87 of X-Ray Magazine is now available to download. Articles in the September 2018 editions include a feature about drone use with dive travel stories, fluorescence photography, the Thai cave rescue, Diving in Grenada, American crocodiles in Mexico and a portfolio from artist Kelly Clause.
Nikon announces entry level D3500 SLR camera
The D3500 entry level SLR camera has been announced by Nikon. It features a 24.2MP sensor and a native ISO range of 100-25,600. In common with most entry level Nikon SLRs, it does not have a built in focus motor and so is not compatible with non AF-S and AF-P lenses. This means that it will not work with several lenses that are important for underwater use.
Mike Bartick: Bokeh-licious

Mike is a professional underwater photographer who is widely published and also manages the Crystal Blue Dive Resort in Anilao, Philippines. Hundreds of endangered olive ridley sea turtles found dead from fishing net off Mexico
Mexico’s federal agency for environmental protection announced Tuesday of this week that it found over 300 dead olive ridley sea turtles. The turtles died from apparent entanglement with a ghost fishing net off the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. The news comes just a week after news of another large mortality event of mostly olive ridley sea turtles off Mexico. Although these events should cause some concern, scientists believe it is just a small percentage of the tens of thousands of olive ridley turtles nesting off southern Mexico every year.
Lightroom Coffee Break: Page Down to Inspect images
enjamin Warde posted a tutorial about using the Page Down key to inspect images on Adobe’s Lightroom Coffee Break. Although he aims this at removing sensor dust, for underwater photographers, the technique works equally as well at removing backscatter within Lightroom. (Hint: Use the “Visualize Spots” function within the Spot Removal Tool).
