Ryan Canon and Richard Perry (of Reef Photo & Video and DigitalDiver.net) manned the Fisheye / Seatool booth, along with Kenji Ohmura and others from Japan. A Japanese brand, Fisheye and Seatool are making it into the U.S. market with product distribution by both Reef Photo & Video and Backscatter.

Sartek Industries is primarily a manufacturer of HID and LED light heads and video lighting systems. When I stopped by, Sartek Industries president Carl Saieva personally demonstrated an impressive 150W HID video light with 9600 lumens output at 6500K color temperature and a two-hour burn time.

All of Sartek Industries’ light heads come with a pre-drilled threaded hole and are focusable for an easy adjustment between dive and video lighting applications…

Patima had only a couple housings available at the show this year. The team once again brought their aluminum housing for the Canon EOS-400D/Digital Rebel XTi, which can be fitted with either standard Nikonos 5-pin or proprietary Patima 6-pin strobe bulkhead sockets. The housing is 30g buoyant underwater and is rated to 80m (260ft).

KELDAN was showcasing their new LUNA 8 WA-V, an adjustable 18-25W HID video light with five power levels, and a beam angle of 60 degrees with diffuser lens.

Intova specializes in inexpensive underwater cameras and housings and dive lights. New for 2007 are the Intova-designed IC500 and IC700 digital cameras and accompanying housings, with 5MP CMOS and 7MP CCD sensors, respectively.

The IC500 features a 2.5” LCD screen and 4x digital zoom, and supports up to a 2GB SD card, while IC700 in the shock-absorbent housing is waterproof to 180 feet and is equipped with a new 3” LCD screen…

Joel Clark walked me through the full Salvo product line of dual HID video lights. Salvo offers paired lights in power ratings of 21W (2 hours burn time), 35W (2 hours), and 50W (1.5 hours) with 6000 Kelvin output temperature.

Each light head comes pre-drilled for standard ball adapter connectors, and the lithium-ion battery canister is completely sealed against water leakage from a broken switch or cord.

DEMA 2007: 10 Bar Underwater Housings

10 Bar Underwater Housings had on display a brand new aluminum housing for the Canon 40D dSLR that allowed access to all camera functions and featured a magnetic focusing ring. The housing comes standard with a single strobe bulkhead and a tray and handles.

Also sighted was a plastic housing for the Canon 580EX flash rated to 330 feet and utilizing a built-in diffuser and proprietary 6-pin bulkhead connector to allow for eTTL/eTTL2 compatibility.
