A paper published in the Coral Reefs Journal describes how a group from the Thresher Shark Research and Conservation Project witnessed a thresher shark (Alopias pelagicus) about to give birth. The group captured an image of a shark with the head of a pup emerging from the its cloaca during a biological survey of Monad Shoal, Malapascua, Philippines.
