Wetpixel is very excited to be teaming up with Alert Diver and Nature’s Best Photographer for the 2012 Ocean Views underwater photography contest. We will be providing a strong online presence in support of our two media partners, and Wetpixel Publisher, Eric Cheng will be joining the panel of judges. Ocean Views is a major international competition in its own right, and the addition of Wetpixel as its online media partner will help to attract an even greater number of entries. Wetpixel will be continuing to run its other competitions of course, including DEEP Indonesia, Our World Underwater (in conjunction with our colleagues at DivePhotoGuide) and the POTW series.

Ocean Views is open for entries now, with a $25 fee for up to 25 images. The deadline is 30 November 2012.

The editors of Nature’s Best Photographer, Alert Diver magazine, and Wetpixel combine print and multimedia to invite all photographers to enter the 2012 Ocean Views Photography Awards.

Through sharing your passion for the ocean, we hope to inspire a global audience to learn about and protect this fragile realm. There are no specific categories as we want to encourage a diverse variety of entries that depict life below, above, and around the ever-changing ocean surface. Simply gather your best shots and enter through the Ocean Views website.

The winning images will be published in the Spring/Summer editions of Nature’s Best Photography and Alert Diver magazine and in online galleries through Wetpixel and other online gallery features. Contest entries will be judged on technical quality, composition, originality, and artistic merit. Professional photographers, Amateurs, and Youths (under 18) are all welcome to enter. You may submit a total of up to 20 images for one entry fee of $25 US, paid through US check or VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards, however no foreign checks or foreign money orders are accepted at this time). Each submission MUST follow the guidelines. If an image is selected as a finalist, we will need the high-resolution digital files or original transparencies (slides) for the judging during final rounds.
