_savage replied to _savage's topic in Trip Reports and Travel
SINCE I AM UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO DELETE THE THREAD: PLEASE IGNORE, THE SPOT IS GONE. -
Hello, In January of this year I went on the trip to Jardines De La Reina, Cuba, with my friend Richard Salas and I had a blast. So I went ahead and booked it again for 2019—only to find out that I won’t be able to go now (work). More details are here: http://www.askphotography.com/ravencroft If you’re interested in taking my spot, please let me know. Much thanks, Jens

2013 Calendar: Nudibranchs of the Pacific Northwest
_savage posted a topic in Photo / Video Showcase
Hello wetpixlers! It has been a long time in the making, and I’m very happy to announce the release of my 2013 Calendar: Nudibranchs of the Pacific Northwest. The calendar features a collection of twelve high-quality macro shots of different nudibranch (sea slug) species endemic to the coastal waters of Washington State and British Colombia. For more details about the calendar, and to purchase your copy, visit the calendar’s website: http://savage.light-speed.de/nudibranch-calendar-2013.html Please note that parts of the proceeds will be donated to the Coral Reef Alliance! If you have a Facebook or Google+ account, or one with another social website, please promote this calendar by posting its link! You can either click on one of the buttons at the bottom of the site, or, better yet, paste the direct link and comment. With that, I hope you enjoy the pictures of these tiny sea slugs Thanks everybody! Jens- 2 replies

I got a Nautican NA-7D housing, but won't have use anymore for my Nauticam lens gear for the Tokina 10-17 Fisheye lens. It's this one in particular: Nauticam Zoom Gear TC1017-Z If you're interested please contact me. Thanks, Jens

I am selling my Tokina 10-17mm lens. It's the standard f3.5-4.5 AT-X 107 DX Fisheye lens. It's not used too much and has no visible scratches or other damage — it works just fine. Please contact me if you're interested! Thanks, Jens

Hi, Here's my dilemma. (It's not really a dilemma, it's quite a nice thing to have.) I've got about 2-3 weeks to spend in July, maybe into the first week of August. I'd like to go someplace sunny and warm, good diving but not too commercial. And not too far away; I live in Seattle. Now as for good diving, I'm looking for little critters (macro and super macro), lots of colors, maybe some wide angle. Someplace where there aren't too many tourists, and I'm not too keen on rushed tourist or beginner kind of diving. I'm looking for a quiet place where I can read my book in the evening, have long and good and unhurried dives, and meet some good people. Any suggestions? I was looking into Honduras, thought about the Cayman Islands, or perhaps Bermuda. Not sure about SE Asia as this is quite a ways and timezones away. If you have a place to recommend, please do let me know :-) Thanks, Jens

I do have the Tokina 10-17mm and it worked fine so far underwater. However, from personal experience it makes for a rather poor topside lens due to its strong chromatic aberration in high contrast shots; I was rather disappointed by it to be honest. That's why I am now looking for a wide angle lens which I can use both underwater and topside, but perhaps I ought to keep separate lenses for both environments... Jens

Hi, I am torn between two lenses, for both topside and underwater: the Canon 16-35 or the Canon 17-40. I currently use a Canon 7D body (cropped sensor). I do lean a slight bit towards the 16-35 because it's faster and seems to have less distortion. What's your experience? Thanks Jens

I've used the 100mm Zen dome with my Tokina 10-17 quite happily, but would like to upgrade to an 8" or 9" dome to use with other lenses as well. That's for my Nauticam NA-7D housing. Please contact me if you have one for sale! Thanks :-) Jens

I got the mini dome for the Tokina 10-17 for my Nauticam 7D.

Hi, Due to my recent gear upgrade I am now selling my two cameras: a Canon 40D (body only) and a Canon G10. Both are working fine, have little the usual wears and scratches, but I've always taken good care of them. Both come with their original boxes, CDs, cables, memory cards. Not quite sure what to ask for, and I'm happy to sell them together or separate. Thanks! Jens

Are they still for sale?
-
There are some gorgeous shots here, what a pleasure to scroll through this thread Here are two of my favorites. I'm still learning my new setup, but since I'm more comfortable with macro I will spare you my failed wide-angle attempts Most of the time I try to find colorful and simple images as they speak to me most. Both shots were taken around Vancouver Island, BC, still one of the most amazing places to dive. Happy new year 2012 everybody...

Would you sell the port or base separately?
-
This setup is still for sale, it would be a shame to have it sit here only to collect dust :-) Make an offer and I ship it out to you! Jens
-
I'd be willing to sell the parts, yes. It looks like the wide angle lens fits on both housings: see the Backscatter page for example. Send me an email if you'd like me to ship it to you?

Hi, I've upgraded my equipment and now I have my G10 setup for sale. This includes pretty much everything, ready to go: - the G10 camera and the box, cables, recharger, batteries, memory card, manual, CD; - the FIX G10 housing; - a FIX wide angle lens for the housing; - a 67mm thread adapter for the FIX housing to use with a wet lens; - the rig for the housing and two strobe arms, and the optical cables to connect strobes; - a Canon bag which fits the gear for traveling. I've had the setup since 2008 and I'm very happy with it. I used it with two Sea&Sea YS-110a strobes and it worked great. The housing has a few scratches and the there's a little mark on the camera's lens protector (you can see it on the photo). All in all the gear is in good working shape and ready to go. The price of the whole setup when I bought it new was some over $2000 (without the bag) and I'm asking around $1000 for the whole package. Or best offer. Not quite sure what to ask for I might be willing to part with the two YS-110a strobes as well... Feel free to ask questions or pop by if you want to take a look (if you live around the Seattle area, that is ) Cheers, Jens The package. The Canon G10. The FIX G10 housing with strobe arms. You can see the flex arms on the package picture to the right of the Canon bag. The FIX wide angle lens with box and protector.

Hi, My name is Jens and I just signed up here because many told me this is a good way to advertise some used gear that I'd like to sell (a complete FIX G10 setup). I want to sell that because I finally decided to get an Nauticam 7D housing. Alas, before I can post I need to reply to a thread first, and that's what I do now This link is broken: We recommend introducing yourself as a reply to this post. (Any admin out there can look into this? Cheers!) Anyway, I've been diving for more than 11 years now, and I'm currently PADI MSDT certified. Got CMAS certified in mid December in Germany and we actually had to poke holes into a thin layer of ice. Then I moved to Australia for a couple of years before I ended up in Seattle about seven years ago; that's where I still live and dive most of the time. Although I do travel _a_lot_ and dive all over the world. We've got a small group of people here, all obsessed with photography, and we spend heaps of (long) weekends diving all over Vancouver Island or the Northern Puget Sound. Keep smiling Jens
