  1. Nice rig. Looks like you have a few bucks invested in it. Don't forget a lanyard wink.png (Wise guy in every crowd).

As far as the tripod, do you have a specific subject in mind? It doesn't seem like you will be able to get much height out of the setup. While it looks super stable, it doesn't seem very versatile.

Hi - never used a lanyard - maybe I should sort that out....

Ah - built for a purpose... I want to do super macro - point to the bottom.

I can get more height - just swap the legs, or add legs on with clamps.

Love to try natural light wide angle too...

    Keep you all posted.

    Cheers

  2. If your doing dedicated super macro video I would take the Ikelites off as they are adding weight and getting in the way when you want to move your other video lights around. Looking at your carrying handle.......well that explains why my garden hose gets shorter each week.....I thought it was the local kids making bongs. Actually I dont like the look of the carry handle as its tied off to each of those removeable ikelite arms......I can see something happening there and it will end up in tears. I suggest tying it off onto the Ikelite housing tray as a more secure point.

Good luck with it and hope to see the results.

    Regards Mark

    Thanks Mark.

Nope - from the house across the road, so your safe ;-p

    Will move the handle.

    Cheers

  3. Good condition.

I minor mark, but not noticeable in images (see pic).

    RRP $164.00

    Sale $105.00 AUD

    #5502.41 Ikelite 4.125" Flat Port

For lens less than 4.125" (10.4cm)

    Flat Ports:

For standard, macro and telephoto lenses.

Due to refraction flat ports reduce the angle-of-coverage of a lens and at the same time enlarge the image. This makes the flat port ideal when using standard, macro or zoom lenses to shoot small subjects. Note that if a port is long enough to accommodate the full length of a 1:1 macro lens, the lens may vignette when used at infinity. If access to the lens' full range is desired, then select a dome port instead.

    Lens Specific Flat Port:

  5. Ha - I had a Nikon D300 (no video)... What started as an idea to get a second hand 300s for video, and just a new back plain for my housing needed in:

    Selling my D300

    Selling my D300 housing

    Buying a D800 new

    Buying a D800 housing new

    New full frame Lens's new

    New ports

    Selling old Lens's

    Selling old ports

    And so on.....

It's underwater photography, and I don't think there is an easy way. Spend as much as you can up front to get the best you can.... It is expensive to upgrade too soon again...

    Cheers

  6. While all of your favoured lenses will work behind a 8" dome the general opinion is that they produce much nicer results behind 9" or bigger Glass Domes.

There has been much discussion about the 14-24 vs 16-35 for underwater with the general vote heading to the 16-35.

If you have the Ikelite System you port choices are are much more limited

    Modular - 8" Dome

    Requires:

    — 5510.45 dome assembly

    — 5510.28 port body

    Hi,

So what issues am I going to see?

    Cheers

  7. Hi All,

I have jump in and bought a Nikon D800.

I had a D300 with the below lens options:

    • Nikon 60mm Macro AF-S
    • Nikon 105mm Macro AF-S (VR)
    • Tokina 10-17mm AT-X 107 AF DX
    • Tamron B003 18-270Di II VC LD (F/3.5 - 6.3)

    I am going to sell:

    • Tokina 10-17mm AT-X 107 AF DX
    • Tamron B003 18-270Di II VC LD (F/3.5 - 6.3)

I am looking for a nice wide angle to replace the 10-17. I have a 8” dome port to use with it. What are people using? What are my options to use the camera in full FX?

    I am looking at:

    • Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED IF Lens
    • Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR
    • Nikon AF-S 17-35mm f/2.8 IF ED Lens

This is my preferred lens - Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR.

    Cheers
