Alex_Mustard 0 Posted July 9, 2008 [uPDATE 13th AUGUST 2008 - SECOND WEEK ADDED 24th-31st JAN 09 - 8 PLACES AVAILABLE - See last post for details] In January I'll be running my Grand Cayman photo workshop again. It is limited to just 12 people and aimed primarily at DSLR shooters. Here is the official info. Alex Mustard's Cayman Workshop Understanding, capturing and controlling light 17th-24th January 2009. Join Alex Mustard’s Digital Underwater Photography workshop at Ocean Frontiers, East End, Grand Cayman in January 2009. The focus on this workshop is lighting: understanding, capturing and controlling both strobe and available light. We will dive on Grand Cayman’s dramatic walls, the East End’s atmospheric caverns, fishy shallow reefs and at Stingray City. There will be the traditional dawn stingray trip, where there is the chance to photograph the unique stingray schooling behaviour in golden sunlight. We will also aim for encounters with Cayman’s larger creatures such as eagle rays, turtles, tarpon and reef sharks. The trip is limited to just 12 people, which provides plenty of time for 1:1 image critique and also a 1:1 pool photo tune-up session. The course also includes photo lectures, interactive seminars, group image review and photographic diving. The workshop costs $2,165 USD (excluding flights) for 7 nights accommodation at the luxurious Compass Point Resort, 6 days of diving, social evenings, rental car and high speed Wi-Fi. There are more details of the package here. For more info post below or email me. Hope to see you there. Alex

Steve Williams 0 Posted July 11, 2008 Hey Alex, I'd really love to do this but I have a general question on how these trips are run. How does it work with spouses/girl friends? By saying there is only room for 12, is that 12 people in the class or 12 divers on th boat, or 12 slots at the resort? Curious how you like to do this? Steve
Alex_Mustard 0 Posted July 11, 2008 Hey Steve, Its a common question this year. You're the third to ask. The boat will be limited to 12 divers (those on the course). We need the space with all the cameras etc. There is plenty of space at Compass Point Resort (http://www.compasspoint.ky/) and partners will be very welcome to come to the socials and sit in on lectures/seminars (if they are having trouble sleeping). Rate would be room only. Alex p.s. Probably best not to bring both your spouse and your girlfriend.

TisTam 1 Posted July 15, 2008 Hi Alex Do you know if there are still places available on this workshop? I emailed the address on your link and got an automated reply: "out of office until 29th july" Cheers! Tamsin
Alex_Mustard 0 Posted July 15, 2008 Hi Tamsin, There should still be plenty of space. I have only really advertised it here. I'd imagine that most people who are interested have contacted me and from that and what I read above there is still plenty of space. Ah, Lesley did say something about coming to Europe to visit family. I'd imagine that someone is checking here email - it is just that the out of office reply is there to let you know replies will be slower than usual. I am off to Florida again on Friday. I will say hi to Jim and all the gang at JASA for you. Alex
TisTam 1 Posted July 15, 2008 Yes please! I'm planning to go back there next summer, for a Dolphins trip this time.

ralphy 1 Posted July 16, 2008 (edited) Hi Alex Do you know if there are still places available on this workshop? I emailed the address on your link and got an automated reply: "out of office until 29th july" Cheers! Tamsin Hi! Are you the Tamsin who's a member of the BUPG (Bristol) group? (There can't be that many Tamsin's in Somerset!) R Edited July 16, 2008 by ralphy
Alex_Mustard 0 Posted August 13, 2008 UPDATE. As a result of Lesley being away while people were trying to book - we ended up receiving 15 deposits before we were able to close bookings for the trip. So rather than disappoint anyone and run at over capacity I have agreed to limit the first week to 12 people, as promised, and to run a second week from the 24th-31st January. The only downside of this is no manatees for me next January Week 1 is full. But week 2 is now open for bookings and there are 8 places available. I hope you can join us.
