The Gulen Nudibranch Safari is a unique annual event run at Gulen Dive Resort, Norway. It combines science, photography and diving with, unsurprisingly, a focus on the nudibranch species that populate the reefs of Gulen. Wetpixel is on hand to report on the event.
The University of Miami (UM) Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science is now accepting entries for its annual Underwater Photography Contest. The Underwater Photography Contest is open to all amateur photographers who earn no more than 20 percent of their income from photography. The top prize is a trip on Blackbeard’s Cruises, departing from Freeport, Bahamas. The deadline for submitting photos is 12p.m., U.S. Eastern Time on Monday, April 3, 2017.
Issue 95 of Underwater Photography magazine (UwP) is now available to download. It features reviews of the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II and the NA-EM1 II housing and the Turtle TTL trigger. Featured articles include articles about capturing the eyes of creatures, diving with crocodiles and in Antarctica. As always, it is also full of information about new products and trips.

A new online magazine that explores the ocean world has been released. Featured-Creatures is an online magazine for kids and adults that provides entertainment, facts and ocean-related content for “Kids” of all ages. Marty Snyderman, along with Rick Voight of Vivid-Pix, Howard and Michele Hall, and Jenny Boshears, bring ocean fun to subscribers every month.
The results of the first stage of the UnderwaterCompetition.com series have been announced At a function during Our World Underwater, the winners of the show’s contest were announced Hearty congratulations to Yatwai So for his winning image of a juvenile sweetlips, and to all those in the placings.
Sony has announced their SF-G series SD cards that feature a claimed write speed of 299MB/ and a read speeds of 300MB/s. The company has achieved these speeds by improving the physical architecture and by using a new algorithm that “prevents loss of speed in data writing even after repeating burst shooting, and contributes to the camera’s speed of burst shooting.”
Ikelite has released their 200DL housing for the Panasonic Lumix GH5. The housing is depth rated to 200 feet and has an MSRP of $1695. The Lumix GH5 has a 20.3 MP sensor and an ISO of up to 25,5600. Video is 4K 60p/50p and 4K 30p with internal 4:2:2 10-bit recording. The camera itself will be available at the end of next month and the housing should be available soon, too.
